Ms. Smith was born in Manhattan, Kansas and attended University of Kansas before graduating from University of Kansas School of Law in 1987. She was admitted to practice in Kansas in 1987 and in Missouri in 1988.
She co-authored with Bruce B. Waugh the chapter, Bonds-Bid, Performance, Payment for the Kansas Construction Law Manual published by the Kansas Bar Association. She has authored and presented papers and seminars at the national and local level on topics including fidelity, fiduciary and construction bonds.
She is a member of the
American, Kansas, Missouri, and Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations
and a past Vice-Chair of the KCMBA’s Construction Law Committee.
She has also participated in the KCMBA’s Lawyers for Literacy program.
